Working toward equity and authentic community engagement in our schools.

I'm running for School Board because I believe parents and community members should be true partners in the work of improving our schools, and I want our district to take the equity work to the next level.

As a child of immigrants, I still see education as key lever for creating a more just society. If elected, I will make sure we continue the hard work of improving our schools and creating even greater opportunity for our families.

I have three children in Nyack Public Schools - two at Upper Nyack Elementary and one at Nyack Middle School. For the past two years, I've been co-chair of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Advocacy (IDEA) committee at UNES where we've tried to create space for conversations about equity within our schools.

In my professional life, I have worked in the field education and youth workforce development for the past 15 years, and I will bring this expertise to the board on behalf of students and families. I've worked on equity initiatives as part of the Young Men's Initiative (NYC) where we invested in strategies aimed at eliminating the racial opportunity gap for Black and Latinx students - specifically young men. Additionally, I oversaw our office’s annual operating budget of approximately $60M in local, state, and private philanthropic funds. As a public servant, I understood how critical it is to be an effective steward of taxpayer dollars.
